ABOUT US
Sensitivity and Intuitive. Integrity to Ecology. Aesthetic and Sustainable. Designing with you in mind. For the Earth and Soul
Our Story
Soul and Soil designs was founded in 2018 to make reciprocal connection to land a priority, and to bring the essential skills of design, and gardening to people for long term sustainability. Since then, Helen has worked with a range of clients, from schools to farmers, in the remotest Australian desert to urban homesteads. She hopes to help you achieve your dream garden.
About the founder
Helen Peters is a landscape designer, permaculturalist and gardener. She has combined her skills with traditional wisdom from ancient cultures around the world.
Her work is characterised by sensitivity to place, with integrity to ecology, and where aesthetics are as essential as functionality. Her gardens appeal to the senses through the language of nature, utilising naturalistic plantings that embrace the seasons and bring enduring harmony, abundance and elegance to every home.
It is her mission to make it possible for clients to achieve luxury and timeless gardens, and to find deeper joy and connection to place with their loved ones.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
“Right from the beginning of research there should be a calm willingness to let the thing speak on it’s own terms”
-Goethe
When we bring a sensitivity to place and allow it to ‘speak on its own terms’, a deeper level of design and sustainability is possible. By taking the time to get to know your unique landscape and lifestyle, we designs integrated systems that benefit both you and the Earth - weaving soul and soil seamlessly.
Soul and Soil Designs is based on Noongar Boodjar (Country) in Margaret River.
We respect the Wadandi (Saltwater) people as the traditional owners, who live by the six seasons and in harmony with their land and sea. These coastal areas are important to Wadandi Peoples connection to land, culture and their dreaming. We hope we can all benefit from their ancient traditions be empowered to continue to walk softly with our Mother Earth.
